Farm Training Info

Are you a Scent Work competitor? Are you getting ready for AKC / NACSW scent trial or just want to try something new with your dog? Take advantage of this great opportunity to allow the team from Joe Nick K-9 Training Center to help you. 

We are offering a (2) day Scent Work prep trail with Private Coaching from 9-am to 3-pm both days. An amazing opportunity to “TRAIN LIKE YOU TRIAL”. With Unlimited Sniffs which allows you to go as many times as you like (in assigned order).  

$100.00 per working team for (one day) or sign up for (both days) for $160.00. Audits spot for (one day) $50.00 per person or (both days) for $75.00.  

During this clinic / trial prep, we will discuss common search issues:  

• Ring Entry • Leash handling • Handlers distance during the search • Search patterning • Dog’s ability to search for target odor’s in different environments • Ability to read your dog’s body language as it encounters odor and when your dog is not on odor. • Extensive Q & A session • Problem solving

Teams should have the ability to work confidently in front of a large group in a novel environment, be quiet in a crate or vehicle when not working and be friendly/ neutral with strangers. Teams should have access to current vet records at all time while on-site.

STRUCTURE - Full day of working dogs - mock trial set up. Folks wanting to run 'blind' to test their dog will run first each element/level. Similar structure each day, catered to participants needs. Group learning opportunity by watching advanced dog and handler teams working search areas. 3 available elements (Containers, Buried, and Exterior) available for each team. We will review search strategies and techniques for each search level (Novice, Advanced, Excellent & Master) to help you gain a competitor’s edge.  

SITE DETAILS....There will be Air Conditioned kennel and crate area provided for use. You will be required to clean and pick up after your dog.  Site is five minutes from local pizza shop - bring your own lunch or we will have menu available for ordering for pick up.  

COVID details.....mask must be worn into the bldg to use the bathroom and into the crating areas at all times. Standard COVID waiver must be signed as well. We will have them available when you arrive.

BONUS - We will also have a professional photographer from (Kara Michele Photography) on site to take pictures of your pup in action!
